Measure Twice......Cut Once

Brad did the morning cuts and then he taught me measuring and cutting and I did the afternoon cuts. And then Steve taught us to go slow on the cuts so it didn't look so rough!

OK - so Brad watches, I shoot and Steve works. Good thing we fed him lobsters and whiskey.

Serious Nail Gun

I would like to say I shot this nail gun (a serious nail gun to pierce the cement) but I could not even pull the trigger using 2 hands. But you get the gist.

And Then We Build Up

Sunday was the big day to begin building upwards. We will use the concrete to stabilize the structure by using bolts.

First a layer of sill tape (light green) is used between the cement and the 2x6. This allows the contact between the wood and the concrete to bond with more contact.

To the Rescue

Now as much as we are 'doing this project ourselves' there comes a point in time when you need to 'fess up that the true pencil sharpener, angle drawer here is our friend Steve. So before he heads off for 2 weeks into the upper reaches of the state where cell phones won't accept calls.....even ours...., he helps us with the true base of construction.

Forms Off

Saturday, Brad took the forms off of the concrete pad. I just ran my first 10k and after the euphoria, my only strength left was taking pictures!
